50 Steps for Kobane
50 steps are enough for a 45 meters walk, the distance dividing the Turkish border from the first houses in Kobani, the Kurdish town in northern Syria, that has been assaulted by fighters of the “Islamic State” (ISIS) for months.
50 steps divide the international Community from the streets and the alleys where people are dying defending their own life, their own house and our democracy.
Kobani is the icon of a real opposition to terrorism and violence. There are thousands of families escaping ISIS offensive and the flood of refugees fleeing into makeshift Camps in Iraqi Kurdistan and in Turkey is increasing every day .
We should intervene immediately, because nobody can say today: “we didn’t know that”…
We want to contribute to the humanitarian efforts towards the Syrian Kurdish populations. We want to make these 50 steps, at least symbolically, aiding children, women and men who have no choice but to escape.
We are citizens, cooperation structures, universities, entrepreneurs, people of good will ready to send aid in those areas, following the priorities and the logistical information local people are providing.
This is not a petition to sign, but a call to walk together 45 metres, everyone in their own way. Are you with us?
